PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Educating our Bodies to Move Correctly

Category: Physical Education

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Computer, printer, sports figures/pictures of students performing skills, tape and glue for poster with cues.

I like to keep the ‘Educating our Bodies to Move Correctly’ board current with the skills and concepts that we are studying. I captured pictures of my students producing and absorbing force, stepping in opposition when throwing, basketball, the Plank, and rope jumping. The critical elements are entered into Microsoft Published and made into a poster or just printed in our computer lab. The sports figures were bought at a local school supply store and added as an ‘attention catcher’.

Mr. Cue, the gingerbread man, has cues for jumping rope which students open to see the critical elements. I placed a picture of several students performing the move ‘Plank’ because visuals help students learn and understand skills much easier that just hearing words. I really believe in using cues for success. The banner was also made using Publisher.
