PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Water Safety Tips

Category: Water Safety

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: construction paper, boarder, water safety pictures

Our state has a high number of drownings. As the weather warmed up at the end of the school year, students were swimming more. I received a poster from Discovery Channel that was the motivation behind this bulletin board. I used it to discuss with students how they can stay safe around water. I used the picture of the boy from the poster to put in the corner of the board. I found clip art to describe the water safety tips.

1. Learn to swim. This is the best way to stay safe around water.
2. Don't dunk or jump on other swimmers.
3. Always swim with a buddy while a grown-up is watching.
4. Don't dive or jump into water unless you know how deep it is.
5. Always obey the rules of the pool.
