PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: New Year Health Goal

Category: Goal Setting

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Wrapping paper with snowflakes, character cut-outs, round paper cut-outs, pencils for writing goals

At the beginning of each year (2017 is shown in picture), I like to have students focus on improving their health and fitness. I ask students (grades 3-5) to write down one health goal on a circular piece of paper (these would serve as snowballs on the board). After the holidays, I had found some wrapping paper with snowballs on it. This paper served as my bulletin board background. I used characters from an old Peanuts calendar to disperse around the board. I also placed the students' health goals throughout the bulletin board so that they looked like falling snow. The kids loved showing others their goals as they walked by each day. The board also served as a focus reminder for students to work on their goals.

Additional Information:

Staff was also invited to write a health goal and place it on the board. The students loved to see the goals of their teachers and other staff that work at my school. Names were optional or were placed on the back of the snowballs.
