PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Exercise makes you Bright

Category: Holiday-Christmas/Winter

Suggested Grade Level: k-5

Materials: bulletin board paper, construction paper, card stock, yarn and staples

This bulletin board is located in the hallway right outside the gym. It was put up in December. Large light bulbs made out of construction paper, in a variety of colors, are displayed throughout the board. Yarn connects the bulbs to represent a string of lights. On each bulb an 'exercise' message is written. The messages are....
Exercise is a way to make new friends; exercise makes your heart and lungs stronger; exercise reduces risk for illnesses; exercise gives you more energy; exercise reduces stress levels; exercise helps you sleep better; exercise helps you stay focused and pay attention; exercise improves your ability to learn; exercise burns calories; exercise makes muscles stronger and more flexible; exercise improves bone strength; exercise helps you maintain a healthy weight and exercise lowers blood pressure.

The colorful bulbs really "shined" with the black background. Next time I might try to incorporate a "plug" of some sort with a message.
