PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Color Me Healthy

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Assorted Healthy Eating and Healthy Activity Coloring Sheets

Early on in the school year I noticed grades K and 1 were struggling with fine motor skills. In an attempt to work on their dexterity and incorporate some health tidbits into their school day we started an after school coloring contest during day-care. Each week students were given a new coloring challenge to undertake. Every week we would chose our favorite pieces (this was the hard part) and showcase them on a bulletin board for all to see. Coloring sheets varied with healthy food options and ways to keep physically fit. It was great to see the excitement every week when students waited for the new worksheet to appear. It was a fun way to sneak in some important health information to students.
