PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Trending Now in PE

Category: Promoting PE

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Large roll of paper, white paper frames, photos

Each November our school invites parents in for American Education Week. Parents visit their child's classroom to see what they've been learning. In order to show visiting parents what we've been doing in PE, we put up this bulletin board in the hallway with a modern twist. We wanted it to look like a twitter feed or Instagram page.

I've included pictures from all grade levels and showed a variety of activities- from kindergartners with a parachute to second graders in an obstacle course. We included pictures of content as well- such as third graders with pedometers as we did goal setting and fifth graders completing a skeleton puzzle as we studied bones. We had a photo from a school wide event- Walk to School Day. (Note: be aware of your school's policy for posting student pictures!)

We printed the pictures on 4x6 and 5x7 photo paper to make it look sharp, then put them in a pre-made frame and typed up a clever hashtag for each. I had fun doing it, but you could also include students in the hashtag writing!
