Title of Bulletin Board: What's on your plate? Category: Nutrition Suggested Grade Level: All Materials: Poster board, border, flash cards with pictures, contraction paper, rubber cement, stapler Description: My bulletin board advocates My Plate, the five main food groups and information about these five food groups. Nutrition has such a huge impact on health, and students should be aware of portion sizes and which foods will benefit their bodies the most. My bulletin board provides a visual aid of what a students plate of appropriate portions from each food group. Along with this visual aid, I also provided simple information about each food group that all grades K-5 can read and understand. Along with this information, I provided flash cards with pictures of examples of common food items in each food group. This board can help students identify the five main food groups and use the visual aid to help model their own plates. My overall purpose was to help students become more aware of the food groups and eating from the all five food groups at every meal.
