PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Jump Rope for Heart

Category: Special Events

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: construction paper, marker, glue/paste, scissors

This Bulletin Board was created to remind students of our "Jump Rope for Heart" event. Also, to remind students the different kinds of skills that can be performed using a jump rope. I started by cutting out large (12") hearts, then added arms & legs to form heart characters. Each heart character represents a different skill (i.e. jumping with 2 feet, swinging rope overhead, jumping with a friend, jumping over a long rope). Then I added the title "Jump Rope for Heart," placing each letter of the "jump Rope" on a different color construction paper. The words "for Heart" were placed on a single sheet of paper. Finally, I added 5 statements explaining why daily exercise is important. They include: Daily exercise makes you HEALTHY; Daily exercise makes your bones STRONGER; Daily exercise makes your muscles work better; Daily exercise helps build self-esteem; and Daily exercise makes you smarter.
