PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Go UP to new heights

Category: Motivation

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Construction paper, butcher paper, bulletin board border, yarn

Modeled after the Disney movie UP, this bulletin board was created to motivate my students to make healthy choices. Students are encouraged to "try a new move", "try a new food", and "try a new attitude".

The balloons were made from construction paper, the letters were cut from a die press, and yarn was added to give the appearance of hot air balloons. On the first balloon I gave examples of new moves that students could choose (skip, jump, dance, play, jog, shuffle, run, help a friend). The second balloon had pictures that I had printed that gave examples of a new food to try.

I think my students loved this bulletin board because of the height of the balloons. Because the balloons extended beyond the board it caused by students to say "wow".
