PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Jump Rope For Heart

Category: Special Events

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: prizes supplied by American Heart Association, letters, In Honor of hearts, levels signs, heart facts

Each year we receive the sampling of prizes students can earn by raising money for the American Heart Association during Jump Rope for Heart. We do not have a gym, display case or place to set out the prizes to help motivate the students. This year we used the bulletin board to display them. I printed out the amount needed for each level and placed it next to the item. Level one being the water bottle, level two, the jump rope, which was shaped into a heart, etc.

I also put a "thermometer" to update the amount the students were raising so they could see their progress. Also on the board was a heart fact that was changed out weekly. These facts were taken from the educational materials supplied by the AMA.
