PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Keys to a Healthy Heart

Category: Fitness

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: tag board, die cut hearts and letters, pictures that relate to the concept on the keys

I cut large 'keys' from tag board. I put one concept on each key with die cut letters and included a picture or two that related to the concept. The border is made from die cut hearts. I used this 'Keys to a Healthy Heart' bulletin board for our school's theme "From our Hearts to Yours" for the month of Feb. This is when we participate in Jump Rope For Heart. I discuss these concepts with all classes during PE time. All the parts are laminated so they can be re-used in the future.

Key concepts:

1 Exercise everyday
2 Control your weight
3 Don't smoke
4 Don't do illegal drugs
5 Eat healthy foods
6 Get 8-10 hours of sleep every night
7 Get regular checkups
8 Drink 8 glasses of water a day

I used inexpensive hearts from the dollar store and they worked beautifully for a border. Everybody liked the keys.I found my keys on clipart. What a neat idea!
