PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Fishing for Nutrition

Category: Nutrition

Suggested Grade Level: k-5

Materials: colored paper, glue, scissors

The "Fishing for Nutrition" bulletin board was created to supplement teaching My Plate. There is a game that I taught that we used "fishing poles" and food cards as fish and students had to create their own My Plate. Students were able to refer to the board to know what category the food should go into or how their My plate should be set up.
The fish on the board are color coded to go with the parts of My Plate. For example, the vegetable fish are green to go with the vegetable group on the plate. Along with the fishing being color coded, the fish also have the food group written on them for an added literacy aspect.
The fishing poles of the top of the boat have twirly paper "fishing line" coming off them for an added 3D effect.
