PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Don't Hibernate...PARTICIPATE!!

Category: Seasons (Fall, Spring, etc.)

Suggested Grade Level: K-6

Materials: Words: Don't hibernate...PARTICIPATE, Bundle up and Stay Active, clipart of winter activities, bear poster, snowflakes, cave made out of white batting with black background paper

This bulletin board helps to remind the students that they can stay active even during the cold winter months. Just because it's cold, doesn't mean it's time to hibernate inside playing video games or watching TV.

The board has pictures of children doing different activities that can be done during the cold winter months: skiing, building snowmen, sledding, walking, making snow angels, building snow forts, ice skating, ice fishing, playing 'snoccer' (soccer in the snow), shoveling, etc. Of course, pretty much anything can be done in the snow as long as you bundle up and be careful. My challenge to the students is to bundle up and stay active!! We discuss the importance of staying active in the cold and why they shouldn't be inside playing video games or watching TV all the time.
