PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Heart Health

Category: About the Heart

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Construction paper, die cut letters, border, internet pictures of food/activities that are good and bad for your heart.

I used this to discuss heart health with kindergarteners. I started off with all of the pictures I printed in the middle of the board. On the bulletin board I had a "good" side and a "bad" side. We talked about what was good and bad for your heart and one by one we moved the pictures to the corresponding side of the bulletin board and briefly discussed why.

Additional Information:

To take it a step further, I also had the students draw me a picture the following class of them doing something that was good or bad for their heart. I then taped them to the corresponding side on the wall so they could see their artwork displayed as they entered the gym.
