PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Exercise = Energy

Category: Wellness

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Butcher paper, colored paper/color printer, small stickers

I used this for a staff wellness initiative, but it could be adapted for classroom use as well. As staff are demonstrate healthy activities, they are less likely to miss work due to illness or injury and are more likely to motivate students to incorporate exercise and healthy activities into their lives as well.
I used bright colors - a purple background with yellow border and made a 5 piece pie chart on a word processing program with a key for the 5 months left in the school year. Every time a participant exercises for 20 minutes OR walks/jogs 1 mile, they get to put a sticker in the "piece of pie" for that month. On the last day of each month, participant's names get put in for a prize drawing, 1 time for each 15 stickers.
