PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Bob the Builder Word Wall

Category: PE/Health Vocabulary

Suggested Grade Level: k-5

Materials: poster board, butcher paper, markers

Make 4 different colored bricks to look like a wall (red, blue, yellow, green ). On the red bricks put words that deal with the cardiovascular system - jogging, jumping, skipping, sliding, etc. On the blue bricks put abdominal exercises such as curl ups, sit ups, v-ups, etc. Green bricks are flexibility exercises. Hurdler stretches, butterflies, sit and reach, etc. Yellow bricks represent upper body strength exercises. This includes push ups, arm circles, crab walking, etc. You can use whatever vocabulary words you would like, depending on what you are working on.
The purpose of this board is to educate students about PE vocabulary words. It also allows students to have freedom on their choice of activity. I will say pick a red fitness and the students can choose one on the wall or look at some examples.

Students love this wall and they can relate because they relate to Bob the Builder.
