PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: P.E. is GOOD for your..."heart"

Category: Holiday-Valentine's Day

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: colored butcher paper, construction paper, scissors, glue, glitter glue, and time

This is a bulletin board for the month of February. It shows cute little heart figures playing a variety of activities ranging from team sports to individual activities. The center is a large 3-dimensional heart made out of red butcher paper and filled with crumpled up paper to make it stick out a little. Rather than printing the word "heart" we thought it would be best if the kids had to figure it out. The purpose is to help kids realize that exercise makes their heart healthier and stronger.

Additional Information:

This bulletin board started out with just the "happy valentines day" sign and over the course of a week a few characters were added at a time, then the heart in the middle, then the border hearts and finally some glitter glue! The kids love the detail in the heart figures such as shin guards for the soccer players, a watch on the juggler, and the various types of shoes they are wearing. Students helped cut out the many small hearts that make up the border.
