Title of Bulletin Board: New Years Resolution (New Year's Day) Category: Holiday-New Year's Suggested Grade Level: 4-12 Materials: Construction Paper, chalk, cut out letters Description: In our classes we talked about new years resolutions and goals that we want to reach or maintain in the new year. We talked about fitness and nutrition related goals and goals that could improve our character. I wanted the kids to understand how to set MEASURABLE and REALISTIC goals. This was a fun way of telling the kids to "get on board" the train that everyone is getting on and set your goal for the new year! I took pictures of all the PE teachers in my building and we were "driving" the train. Then I picked some students to hold up a sign of one of the measurable goals we talked about, and placed those pictures that I took in all of the cars of the train.... THE KIDS LOVED IT!! (OUR GOALS WERE: EAT HEALTHY, GIVE MORE, EXERCISE EVERY DAY, HEALTHY HABITS, MAKE NEW FRIENDS, and PLAY LESS VIDEO GAMES) In order to spread the word to the whole school, I had them write 1 of their goals in class on a bookmark and I hung them up on a string around the bulletin board to display.
