PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: CVES Athletes Play Globally

Category: Multicultural

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: My map was one the old pull down maps that are no longer used in our school. Floor tape was used identify the location of the country to the sport.

The CVES (Cromwell Valley Elementary School) Athletes Play Globally bulletin board was inspired by the school's push to incorporate the learning of the geography and cultures of various countries located in the world.
Our school has been "Skyp-ing" with various locations around the globe. My contribution to this integration is by teaching different sports, dances and activities that are played around the world. For example, I taught Cricket to the 4th and 5th grade classes and will be teaching Tinkling to my students later this year. This map shows locations where various sports were first created. Early history of sports often evolved from the preparation and training of hunting and war and would get molded into the present day sports.
Additionally the bulletin board displays where (and when if possible) the infancy of the sport was born.
