PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: PE Rocks!

Category: Beginning of School

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Die-cut rock border, die-cut letters, 8x10 photographs, googly eyes

This is a bulletin board that I use at the beginning of the school year to generate excitement for PE. I photographed rocks that I found in my yard and staged them doing various physical activities -- basketball, tennis, rock climbing, tree climbing, swimming, jumping rope, riding a tricycle, hula-hooping, sliding, swinging, etc. After developing the photos in an 8x10-inch size, I glued googly eyes on the rocks to make them look like little people and to add a bit of dimension. This is a great board that catches the students' eyes as well as the parents' eyes -- it's a great way to start the year promoting PE!
