Title of Bulletin Board: Count Down to the District Track Meet

Category: Sports

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: construction paper, clipart, microsoft word, border

We host a District track meet for our 4th and 5th graders every year. I put this board up during our training. I've included a track with some runners on it plus each event with a picture. The pictures of the events help the students understand what the event looks like (many have no idea what a shot putt is for example). I refer to the board often to reinforce an event. For example, I was teaching the 4X100 relay. We went to the board and I showed the kids where they would stand to receive the baton in the relay. This visual help tremendously!
This board also motivates the students during our training. I count down the days till the track meet and they get so excited! At press time we are 13 days away!!
