PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Winter Activity Ideas

Category: Seasons (Fall, Spring, etc.)

Suggested Grade Level: K-5

Materials: Butcher paper, Ellison cut-out letters, printed pictures

To encourage sustained activity through the colder winter months, we created this board that provides students with ideas for ways to stay active (physically and mentally), even when cooped up indoors. Our school mascot is the bear, so we titled our board "Magnolia Bears don't hibernate!" The sleeping bear was drawn on butcher paper, and the circle with a slash through it was cut from red butcher paper. Ideas such as "Dribble a ball," "Jump rope," "Put together a jigsaw puzzle," "Coloring books, sudoku, word searches," "Have an indoor treasure hunt," "Make an indoor obstacle course," "Go ice skating," "Dance," "Go sledding," and "Toss a snowball" were listed along with safety tips for outdoor activity in winter, "Drink plenty of water, Dress in layers, Take resting breaks."
