PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Jump To It

Category: Pedometers

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Grade/ Class Charts and Pedometers

The month of February is always Jump Rope Month at our school and this year, our theme is Jump To It. In conjunction with this effort and as a cross-curricular approach with math, students in grades 3-6 are using pedometers for an entire class period and totaling and graphing the number of steps collectively at the end of their class. Once the steps are totaled, a comparison is then made between classes and also between other grade levels. This has been a highly motivating project and students are very excited to see how many steps they've taken at the end of their 30 minute class. I plan to use pedometers more frequently once this project is complete!
