PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Tossing Up A Tasty Treat

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: PRE-K - 2

Materials: Large Dye Cuts of Fruit and Vegtables that are labled on the back, correlating border, salad bowl cut in half, salad tossers, google eyes, shoes made from fun foam, large letters, etc.

This bulletin board was used to emphasize the need for healthy food choices in correlation with living a healthy lifestyle, i.e. the relationship between food choices and exercise. The directions explain that after Sally the Salad exercised she needed a healthy snack to re-energize her body. The students had to choose items from the refrigerator to create a vegetable salad. They then had to decide which choices were vegetables and which were fruit. After making their choice, they placed the vegetables in Sally the Salad to create their salad.
*To best cut the salad bowl in half for the bulletin board use kitchen scissors.
