PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: African American Sport Greats

Category: Special Events

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: bulletin board paper, construction paper, printed pictures

I needed a bulletin board to represent Black History month. I decided to go a board with legendary African American athletes throughout history. I found pictures of 10 various athletes, men and women, who made a significant impact on their sport. These ranged from Jesse Owens, Althea Gibson, Hank Aaron, Muhammad Ali, etc. This board was very easy to make. It took a little time to research each athlete and find pictures. I posted a picture with their birth and death year (if applicable) along with a brief description of their accomplishments. I posted these to construction paper and laminated them. I then cut out the letters "African American Sport Greats". These were posted on bulletin paper. I didnt want to much extra decoration on the paper because I felt it would distract from the pictures.
