Name of Best Practice: P.E. "Club of the Month"

Rationale/Purpose of Event: To give students extra time in the gym practicing activities in which they choose to participate in. It also promotes choosing to be physically fit which is a big goal in our district.

Suggested Grade Level: 2-5

Materials Needed:

-Letter to Parents each month describing the activity of the month, a release form and a permission slip to participate.
-Certificates
-Equipment as needed based on activity

P.E. "Club of the Month"

If a student signs up to join the P.E. "Club of the Month", he/she is choosing to spend their mid-day recess in the gym 2 days out of our 6 day cycle. On days 2 and 5, students who sign up, meet in the gym after lunch. The following are a list of clubs that another teacher, a student, and a parent came up with.

*Jump Rope
*Dance
*Tumbling
*Run for Fun
*Juggling
*Cooperative Challenges
*Monkey Club (climbing)
*Aerobics
*Circuit Training
*Walking
