On Fitness Night I had 14 stations set up for parents and students to visit. Examples include:

  • Pediatrician

  • Local Hospital

  • Will County Department of Health

  • Police Department

  • Fire Dept

  • Lifetime Fitness Club

  • Joliet Junior College Fitness Center

  • Local High School Athletes

  • Students demonstrating cup stacking

  • Dance station

  • Local martial arts instructor and a master fitness specialsit

  • Obsticle course was set up for students and parents to work through

The PTO donated a nutritous snack for each visitor. Over 200 people attended so I will hold it again next year with some added features.

Teaching Suggestions/Tips:

Have water available for each professional volunteer.

Take a lot of pictures so you can promote again for next year.

Invite the local press to attend.

Hand out documents that support phyisical education like the surgeon generals report or developmentally appropriate documents from NASPE.
