50's Dance Day

Fifties Dance Day for the entire school featured a number of dances from this era. Some of the dances were The Swing, Bunny Hop, Stroll, and The Twist. We had a bubble gum blowing contest, hula hoop contest, and best dressed contest. Girls dressed in poodle skirts and petal pushers and boys in their rolled up sleeves and jeans. The teachers loved it and even the principle, janitors, and cafeteria workers joined in on the fun.

We practiced the dances in class for about three weeks and allowed the students to add steps to make it more fun. We even rented a jukebox for the big day! We videotaped our students and let them watch it the next day. Overall, it was a great day and all are looking forward to the next 50's Day.
