The MVP Wall

The teacher should have the large sheet of paper posted against the wall near the gymnasium exit. Have two markers on either side of the paper attached by a 3 foot string so each of the 2 selected MVPS can write their names.

It is easy to recognize all the negative actions throughout the school day but a truly effective teacher knows to also notice the good students, or they might slip to the dark side.

At the end of class, after your review questions, immediately prior to releasing your class, look for two students, usually a boy and a girl, who did a great job that day and have them sign the MVP wall. Each time a student has signed the MVP wall make sure to take note on your master class list. This allows the teacher to avoid heavily favoring students who are always performing at a exemplary level. Try to give every person in the class a chance to sign the wall every semester but make sure that students earn it. You will find that some students will perform everyday regardless of the MVP wall or not but you will also notice that other students will strive to improve because they really want to get their name on the board. The teacher must use their discretion when considering students who have consistent behavior issues. Seek out times when they are doing better then they generally do and recognize them. By doing this, students will begin to seek out the teachers acknowlegement.
The students will be excited and quick to line up at the end of every class, expecting to be picked!
