Suggested Grade Level: 3-12
Materials Needed: Card stock, markers, Video
I AM...
This activity involved having students complete the phrase "I AM...". After briefly discussing with them the idea of keeping ourself healthy means ALOT of things, they each were given a piece of card stock (wth the I AM statement on it) that asked them to write down one word describing what they are--needs to be something positive like "I am Athletic or Brave or Kind, etc. I then asked a few teachers to send a couple students down to help me put the work up on the wall. This is located on the ramp that leads to the gym. All students enter the school every morning and walk right past this. Video I created of this project Picture:
Variations:
Ask some of the staff in the building to do the same thing.
Teaching Suggestions/Tips:
Make sure you completely explain this with examples. I had some students not completely understand!
Adaptations for Students with Disabilities:
Allow them to communicate however they can what they are, make their card for them!
