Name of Best Practice: My PE Pledge

Rationale/Purpose of Event: To encourage students to pledge to do their best and be accountable for their actions in physical education class.

Materials Needed: Copy of The Pledge, sharpie markers and construction paper. See pictures below.

My PE Pledge

At the beginning of the school year I have my students read and sign this pledge as a way of them dedicating themselves to being the best person they can be when they are in my physical education class.

I post this on a large sheet of paper on the wall and it stays there all year (see pictures below). I hand out an individual copy of this pledge as well on construction paper, they sign it and then I post it on a bulletin board.

I revisit this throughout the year especially after holiday breaks.

My PE Pledge

I raise my right hand and pledge to try
To follow and listen to the rules that apply
Have fun, use equipment, but open my ears
And follow directions from my teacher and peers

I will help and assist, and always play fair
And show everyone that I really do care
With sneaks on my feet, and comfortable clothes
I'll do everything and see how it goes

Always trying my best, is what I will do
From September to June and all the way through

Variations:

Make copies of each one and send home with students to give to parents.
