Name of Best Practice: Physical Education Student of the Week

Rationale/Purpose of Event: To recognize and reinforce outstanding student behavior and effort during physical education class.

Suggested Grade Level: K-8

Materials Needed: Award certificates which may be designed from various software packages (i.e. P.E. Magic software program).

Physical Education Student of the Week

Students are first explained the criteria used in determining the physical education student of the week. Examples of award criterions may include: sportsmanship, respect of others, work ethic, or the excellence exemplified in the adherence to class protocols. Each week the pre-established criteria is used as a guideline to select the award winning student. On the last day of the week, a student in each class is selected as physical education student of the week and is announced at the end of class. Additionally, each week all of the award winning students are announced during the Monday morning announcements.
