Rationale/Purpose of Event: To encourage students and staff to take part in a jogging/walking program.

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials Needed: Popsicle sticks, awards (i.e. certificates, shirts, etc.)

Jogging Hall of Fame

The purpose of the Jogging Hall of Fame is to recognize students and staff who have walked or jogged 100 miles during one academic school year. Participants may accumulate miles before or after school, during recess, occasionally during physical education class, or as part of an after school jogging program.

To keep track of miles, students are given Popsicle sticks at the conclusion of each lap. Totals for each day are then tallied and recorded. Once a student or staff member reaches 100 miles they are placed in the Jogging Hall of Fame and are given a certificate or shirt which recognizes their accomplishment.
