Rationale/Purpose of Event: To expose students to wellness information and activities from community resources and listen to well-respected speakers in a variety of professional fields.

Wellness Day
Wellness Day Theme: Creating A Sound Mind In A Sound BODY! Date: Thursday, April 28, 2005 Opening Speaker: Rene Bibaud (Rene will be our opening speaker at 8:15-9:00. Plus, she will host 30 min. workshops in Jacobs Gym.) Closing Speaker: Greg Dale (12:10-12:55 Upper School audience; 2:30-3:15 Middle School audience) Speaker Sessions/Topics: Large Group Activity: SEAL Team activities There will be 4 sessions – one per grade level Demonstrations and Activities: Other Presenters: • American Red Cross Lunch: 12:00-12:40 Miscellaneous: T-shirts: Kathy is working on finding a sponsor to help in purchasing t-shirts (approximately 550 t-shirts) for ALL MS students and faculty to wear the day of the event. Sponsors of the event could be listed on the shirt as well. Parents’ Association: One parent will act as a host/hostess per presenter. Video Presentation: the Collegiate MSPE team is putting together an information booklet and possibly a video that we hope to use in a presentation at the State and National conferences for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Time: all-day (8:00-3:20)
Site: Collegiate School – Middle School campus
Grade Levels: 5 – 8
Total Number of Students: approximately 480 (60 girls & 60 boys per grade level)
(World Jump Rope Champion, Artist with Cirque Du Soleil, and ESPN Color Commentator)
She will do a 40-min. Action-Oriented Fitness Based Program -- with messages based on:
- Trying your best
- Working at your own level
- Staying physically fit
- Keeping your body free from drugs
- Staying focused on the positive
(Sports Psychology -- from Duke University)

Approximately 120 students per session.
Activities will include team building and calisthenics on the football field.

- If schedule permits, several players from the Richmond Kickers will make an appearance.
