Skillastics™ Games Quarterly Special

Skillastics™ is a series of standards-based, fitness, sports-specific and nutritional programs that allow 1 to 100 children of varying ages and fitness levels to participate and enjoy being active at one time. NEW! Volleyball Skillastics™ is the newest in the Skillastics® series of standards-based, fitness, sport-specific, and nutritional programs. Volleyball Skillastics® include 26 activities that include individual, partner and team participation. All activities were reviewed and approved by USA Volleyball’s Director of Coaching Education, and covers all the basic skills of volleyball that include three progressive levels of repetitions that match children’s skill level abilities. The manual contains detailed instruction on how to teach each activity, coaching options, physical education options, and a variation of volleyball rules ideal for physical educators. Ideal for grades 4-12.

Skillastics™ Nutritional Cards, based upon the Government’s MyPyramid, and approved by a Registered Dietician, Skillastics™ Nutritional Cards contain 15 thought-provoking questions from EACH of the food groups (Grains, Meat and Beans, Milk, Cheese and Yogurt, Vegetables, Fruits, Oils and Discretionary Calories). 630 cards in all (105 question cards for each of the six teams)!

Skillastics™ Nutritional Cards were created to be included with the Fitness and Fitness Xtreme Skillastics™ programs. Simply play the Fitness and Fitness Xtreme Skillastics™ as the instructional manual suggests, but in addition, distribute the coordinating colored stack of nutritional cards with each of the six matching Skillastics™ group colors. After the children in a group complete the activity, they all look at the colored border of the just completed activity. Whatever color the border is, the player who rolled the die for that activity chooses a card from that colored pile and reads the question to the rest of the team. The cards may be used for discussion or for actual right or wrong answers. Excellent way of combining the two components of fitness and nutrition!
