Moving to Success Physical Education Curriculum
Moving To Success is a developmental appropriate physical education curriculum guide. The goal is to provide developmentally-appropriate experiences that lead to the skills, knowledge, and values of how and why to lead a physically-active lifestyle.
Goals of Moving To Success
By the end of fifth grade, students:
- will be skillful movers in educational games, educational dance, and body management.
- will be knowledgeable about the principles of movement.
- will have developed the skills and knowledge to develop, plan and implement a health-enhancing physical activity program.
- will have developed an appreciation for leading a physically-active lifestyle.
Key Features
- There are four content areas: Locomotion, Body Management, Educational Games, and Educational Dance.
- Each content area is developed by grade level.
- There are over 158 developmental motor task units.
- Each motor task has the following sections arranged in columns on the front and back of each sheet of paper:
- Front page - planning, rubric and assessment.
- Back Page – instructional tasks, teacher cues, checking student progress and the CAPA.
- The CAPA column develops, by grade level, learning objectives for the National Physical Education Standards 2-6.
