6. Happy Feet Lunch Contest from

In our last newsletter we let you know about our friend Carol Goodrow's ( Happy Feet Lunch Contest. We are pleased to let you know that we have heard from teachers who have put this program into practice at their school. Here is an email from a teacher who recently participated!

Dear and PE Central,

I ams writing to share with you the results of our Happy Feet Lunch. I challenged each of our 4th grade students to design a delicious and healthy menu. They were asked to think fun, creative, healthy, and delicious. The goal of the contest was to promote healthy eating and daily exercise. The winning chef would receive: their winning menu served to the student body, a free lunch, and a Happy Feet, Healthy Food book from author Carol Goodrow. Enclosed are a few pictures of our winner and some of her friends eating lunch. I had about 30 menus returned. Karli's winning menu was: Grilled chicken on a bed of rice, corn on the cob, roll with margarine, fresh strawberries, chocolate pudding, and milk. It was delicious. Thank you so very much for sharing your ideas and the encouragement!

Thank you! Jim
