Activity: Panning for gold
Equipment: Swimming pool filled with sand, pennies, water, paper towels, five "strainers" (wire nets with duct tape around them)
Formation: partners stand around the pool (one by the pool and one in back)
Panner puts strainer into pool (sort of dig underneath rock/sand), lift up, sift back and forth so rock falls through and see how many pennies (gold) you found take one turn. Partner's turn who panned the most gold?
