Activity: Grand Canyon Ride

Equipment: 2 snow sleds from Miss DeBoom, 2 Indiana Jones Ropes

Formation: shuttle formation, x is students (have 2 groups)

x5 x3 x1

x2 x4 x6

• x1 sits on the sled and has the rope under his/her arm.
• people at other end are also HOLDING rope (not pulling rope) under arm
• x1 pulls self across the Grand Canyon
• when x1 gets to the other side, x1 goes to the end of that line and x2 will
• pull themself across the Grand Canyon
• continue until everyone has had a turn

Be sure you have a short and a tall person in each group. Since the sleds did not work as well as anticipated on grass, our leader did a great job of adapting and having the group pull one person while on sled
