Sit Ups/Abdominal Crunches

Illustrated below is the proper way of performing a sit up (or Crunch). Ask your PE teacher which one you are allowed to perform on your physical fitness test.

Sit Up/Abdominal Crunch:

Begin by lying down on your back, knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Cross your arms across your chest. Squeeze your abs (stomach muscles) and lift your trunk directly toward the ceiling, far enough so your shoulders come off of the ground. Hold this position for 1-2 seconds, then return slowly to the starting position. Repeat.
