Striking w/ Rackets/Paddles Cues

Tennis Backhand Volley (Right Handed Player)

Suggested Grade Level: All

"FACE THE NET" - Body faces the net.

"RACKET IN FRONT" - Both hands hold racket in front of body. Racket head should be on the height of a players head.

"MOVE RACKET TO THE LEFT OF BODY" - Quickly move racket to the left of body. Head of racket should be on a 45 degree angle.

"STEP WITH RIGHT FOOT" - Right foot steps forward and slightly to the left.

"HIGH FIVE THE BALL" - LEFT hand should be on the THROAT of the racket. You should only use the right hand to hit a backhand volley. Back of your hand will be facing the net.

"NO FOLLOW THROUGH" - As you contact the ball, LEFT hand lets go of the throat and the right hand holds the racket. Gently tap the ball over the net.
