Jumping & Landing Cues

PE Central

Short Jump Rope Basic Jump

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Handshake- grasp the rope handles as if you are shaking the hand of the person next to you

Heels- Hold the rope behind you so it looks like it is making a smiley face and the middle of the face touches your heels

Wrist Circles- when turning the rope you want to make sure elbows are close to your sides and you are making small circles with your wrists only not your arms

Tap- look and listen for the rope to tap or touch the floor in front of you. Use the tap as a timer for when to jump

2 feet to 2 feet- Come off the ground with both feet and land with both feet

Slow and still- take your time turning and jumping so you can set a pace for yourself and try to jump and land on the same spot
