Name of Activity: Feeding Frenzy

Purpose of Activity: Quick, easy way to begin class!

Prerequisites: Space Awareness and basic locomotor skills

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials Needed: A laminated card in the shape of a shark per student; appropriate music - perhaps the theme from Jaws!

Description of Idea

Each student is given a laminated Shark Card. On the back of each card is an exercise that the students know. The students may not look at the back of the card until the music stops.

Music begins and students move around space (vary the locomotor skill) and switch cards with as many students as they can. They can also switch cards with the teacher if there is an extra!

Music stops and students stop, turn the card over, and perform the exercise on the back of their card for 30 - 45 seconds.

Music begins again and all students begin switching cards again. Repeat this activity as many times as you want.
