![]() Name of Activity: Personal Health
Purpose of Activity: Students need to know proper nutrition and exercise facts in order to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Suggested Grade Level: 3-5 Materials Needed: Post-its, Description of Idea Each student gets 3 post-its as they walk into the classroom. There will be 3 topics written on the board; healthy foods, unhealthy foods, and good exercise. The teacher will tell the students to write down an example of each category on separate post-its and then stick it up on the board under the proper category. Once all students have completed the activity, the teacher will read out the best examples for each category. If any post-its are on the wrong category the teacher will point out the incorrect post-it and explain why it is placed in the wrong category. Since the students are not putting their names on the post-it, they will not be embarrassed for putting a post-it in the wrong category. Teaching Suggestions: As a teacher, hold a class discussion about each answer choice and the class determines if the choice is appropriate and why or why not. This way everyone is involved in the learning process and the students will take more away from the lesson idea. |
