Name of Activity: Rolling for Exercise

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials Needed: Fit polyspots (spots with fitness activities on them, can be handmade) and two dice.

Description of Idea

Scatter fitspots around the gym prior to the class arriving. Once students arrive have them scatter themselves around the play space. Choose one student at a time to roll the dice. The teacher or student calls out the number on the dice. Students then move (teachers choice--doesn't need to be running) to a fitspot and do that activity for the number of times that appeared on the dice. Continue with a new student rolling the dice.

Variations:

Depending on the size of the class and the number of fitspots you can allow multiple students on a fitspot, limit it to one student per spot or determine a maximum number of students allowed on a spot.

The teacher can also determine how students will move to the spots incorporating locomotor movements, pathways, directions, and levels.
