Prerequisites: Students should have been introduced to scooter activities and how to ride scooters safely. Suggested Grade Level: 3-5 Materials Needed: 25 Scooters, Fitness Cards Description of Idea Establish safe boundaries for students to move in for this activity. Have all students sit properly on one scooter. Go over rules again for safely moving on a scooter. Choose 2-4 students to be "taggers". I use a foam ball to designate taggers. If a student is tagged they must go to a designated area (or you can have more than one area), get a fitness card, and perform the activity. Once they have completed the exercise they return to the tag game. Rotate taggers often. Variations: Stop play occassionally to have students check their heart rate. Let the students create the exercises. You can do this as a homework assignment to save time. Teaching Suggestions: When students get tagged you may want them to get off their scooters, pick them up, and walk to the Fitness card station.
Stop game if students are not being safe on the scooters. |
