Name of Activity: Floor Hockey Tap-Dribbling/Trapping Assessment

Purpose of Activity: To assess a partner as they work to improve their floor hockey tap-dribbling skill level. Each task is designed to provide the "player" and "coach" with opportunities to focus on one specific area important to successful dribbling. This receiprocal task sheet is designed to allow students to assist each other in learning and performing three specific tasks.

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials Needed: Tap Dribbling Peer Assessment

Description of Idea

The "coach" in each group of 2 will observe their partner perform three tap-dribbling tasks. When the "player" performs each task the coach should watch closely using the “things to look for” (critical elements) and grade their work. When all three tasks are completed partners will switch jobs and continue on the teacher's "Go" signal. Each task on the assessment sheet is designed with a specific focus as follows:

Task #1 - Stick-handling
Task #2 - Tap-dribbling
Task #3 - Trapping

The bottom portion of the assessment sheet provides each coach with space to add additional notes. Coaches are reminded to be positive with their verbal and written comments. Teachers must be very active during this process to observe that students are giving feedback to will actually help their partners.
