![]() Name of Activity: Basketball Shooting in Pictures
Purpose of Activity: To practice the use of the basketball shooting cue, "BEEF" (balance, eyes, elbow, follow through). Suggested Grade Level: 5-8 Description of Idea After students have had time to practice using the BEEF Cue for basketball shooting (Balanced Feet, Eyes on rim, Elbow pointed toward rim, Follow through arm/wrist), take a photograph of each student shooting. Print out a picture of each student shooting. Older students can then label and describe each letter of the BEEF cue. Younger students will have each letter printed and a description printed for each letter. They are then to match the description and letter and paste it in the coorisponding place on their photograph. This allows students to not only remember the shooting cues but also allows self-reflection, as they will visually see what their shooting form looks like. Teaching Suggestions: This can be done for other skills including overhand throwing, passing, catching, etc. |
