Bulletin Board Ideas for Physical Education

     

Title of Bulletin Board: Smiles for happy choices

Materials: Wording strips, velcro, smilies, event cliparts

Description:

This is used for my autistic support classes and full time learning support classes. My Autistic class is made up of seven boys who learn by visual prompts and cues. In order to increase positive behaviors, after each activity in PE, they can earn a "smiley". If they receive two reminders they do not earn a smiley. After earning two smileys, the students will be able to have two minutes of scooter time while listening to music. The students work very hard to earn the smileys. If the student earns five smileys throughout the class they earn a sticker on the the sticker chart. Once they receive five stickers they get to choose something from the "treasure chest". These behavior incentives have worked great motivating the children to do their best.

Additional Information:

This idea can be used in a regular education PE classroom as well. The only thing that would change are the names of the children. A list of student names could be managed with velcro onto a chart.
