Title of Bulletin Board: The Road to Friendship Category: Character Education Suggested Grade Level: K-2 Materials: Bulletin board paper, magazine cut outs, Description: A main focus with my special needs students which includes emotional support, full time learning support and autistic support students is social skills. In order to reinforce how to be a friend the autistic support teacher and myself created the "road to friendship" board to provide examples of how to be a friend and behaviors that are not being a friend. This also adapts to their visual learning. When an unfriendly behavior occurs we revisit the bulletin board to find ways to fix it. One lane is good friend behaviors and the other lane is Not friend behaviors. There are pictures of each behavior and an explanation below.
